Light Festival (Beppu city - Kannawa, March - April)

The Onsen Steam rising up in Kannawa area is lighted up in various colors to create a fantastic atmosphere.




 

Beppu Hot Spring Festival (Beppu city, early April)

The locals celebrate this festival in thanksgiving for Beppu's abundant hot springs. It is Beppu's grandest festival, filled with events such as the Hot Spring Carnival, a folk dance session, Festival Paradise and hot water purification rituals.

You can visit many small onsens free of charge during the festival!

Ogiyama Fire Festival (Beppu city, early April)

During the Ogiyama Fire Festival in spring, the entire mountainside is set aflame, creating a nocturnal dream world.




 

Summer Evening Festival (Beppu city, late July)

The festival is hled in central part of the city. During the festival is the city center occupied by many stalls selling various traditional food, etc.

Enjoy spectacular fireworks in a starry night of Beppu Bay on the last day of the festival...

 

Kamegawa Summer Festival (Beppu city - Kamegawa port, early August)

The festival with fireworks is hled in Kamegawa port. During the festival is the port occupied by many stalls selling various traditional food, etc.

Kannawa Yuami Festival (Beppu city - Kannawa, late September)

The festival is held every year in September to thank "Ippen Shonin", a Buddhist priest who founded Kannawa Hot Springs area. There is a wooden statue of "Ippen Shonin" kept in the "Nagafuka temple". During the festival people bring this wooden statue to various Onsen in Kannawa area to bath it.

Oita Agriculture and Forestry Festival(Beppu city, late October)

The festival is hled in Beppu City Park. During the festival is the park occupied by many stalls selling various seasonal fruits, traditional food, etc.



 

Oita Fisheries Festival(Beppu city - Kamegawa port, late October)

The festival is hled in Kamegawa port. During the festival is the pier occupied by many stalls selling traditional food (especially fish and sea food).



 

Usuki Bamboo Lanterns Festival (Usuki city, early November)

Christmas HANABI Fantasia Festival(Beppu city, late December)

The festival is the biggest event of Christmas. It's held in Matogahama Park (near JR Beppu Station) for 2 days. There are huge Fireworks at Beppu Beach on both days (from 8PM to 9PM).
